You can check the visual motor check (if you have an intermatic clock), to see if the motor gears are turning, which means the timeclock motor is good and the power from the breaker is good. Its likely good advice you are getting. I have a Hayward Super II pump that has had a small leak between the pump housing and seal plate. Lots of things to check, but its either air entering the system, or an obstruction, both on the suction side of the pump, or before the impeller. You can get locally at an electric motor repair shop. Do you have a video clip to show how to replace it? Should it be very hot to touch or is this an indicator for a capacitor problem? At first, the pump would only hum and not work.
