Starting with 14 employees, the charter service began with a DC-3 equipped with bucket seats, in competition with Hawaiian Airlines. The U.S. Coast Guard cutter USCGC Cape Corwin coordinated a three-day search along with Coast Guard and Marine Corps helicopters, airplanes and other ships.
